Saturday & Sunday - June 1 & 2

Saturday morning was a perfect day to fly. It started a little windy, but by 11 AM the flag was limp. We flew for a few hours and then it was off to the coffee shop.

Sunday was a different story. The wind was brisk in the early hours and grew more fierce and gusty as time went on. Only the brave flew on Sunday. Pat and George’s gyro stabilized electrics bucked the wind very well. Cecil flew his Tiger 60 well, in the ever changing wind. Many planes were tuned up to fly on better days.   ...Peter

Club Night Thursday - June 6th

Our first weather permitting Club Night Thursday is now history and what a turnout we had!

Steve Daly, Pat Leonard, Craig Knight, “newly ordained” George Federley and myself were the instructors present - to safely guide students Rick Lortie, Larry Greco and Peter-John Thompson thru their paces.

Rick O'Hara graced us with his presence and flew his Top Flite Cessna 310 c/w retracts. Nice job Rick — What a sound!

We also had a chance to christen our newly painted rescue boat, as Steve Morin's plane (with Craig on the sticks) lost all signal and crashed a fair distance out in the water. The plane was retrieved with little damage and will fly again.

The students got in multiple flights and all the pilots got ample air time.  Ya’ can’t ask for better than that!

‘Till next time.

Club Night Thursday - June 20th

A fine night for flying it was!

Instructor Dave Derbyshire showed up to get in his first flight of the season with his son, Beau as his helper! No sweat Dave,Ya still got it!

Tom Thomson finally had some “me time” from a busy work schedule and put in some well deserved flights.

Instructors Pat Leonard, George Federley and Dave D. made sure students Rick Lortie and Peter-John Thompson received quality air-time on their quest for their “Wings”.

A good time was had by all!

See ya’ at the field!

Saturday & Sunday - June 22 & 23

Two beautiful warm sun filled days for flying -  but alas the pilots were few and far between.

On Saturday, Clarence, Peter, Craig, Rino, Cec and guest John MacDonald graced us with their presence. I put the first flight of the season on the Moki 210 powered Giant Super Sportster. Oh, did I mention it starts by “back bumping the prop”? Ya gotta love that plane!

I had to do a little tweeking on the inverted Webra Speed 40 in my Unionville Hobbies’ “Sky Baby” to get it humming "tickity boo”. No lack of power, It hauls it around like it’s on steroids!

Rino flew his colourful scratch built Webra Speed 40 powered “RCM Trainer”, as well as his highly detailed OS 52 four stroke powered “Tiger II”

On Sunday, Steve Daly flew the pants off trainee Rick Lortie! Rick is very close to receiving his "Wings”. Steve also assisted fine tuning Bill's Waco Bipe powered by a pumped OS 91 4 stroke. That Waco is one smooth flying bipe and good looking to boot!

Signing off ‘till the next time

Sunday Morning - June 30th

Another beautiful Sunday morning of flying. Steve Daly and Craig were busy giving instruction to trainees. Steve had time to give his new Phoenix Stinson, with DLE 30cc gas power, a few flights. Craig had time to get in a couple of flights on his electric T-34 US Navy Trainer, between training flights.  I flew my Twisted Hobbys Edge 540 and P-51 Mustang .Everyone got in a few flights before we retired to the coffee shop .

Club Night Thursday - July 4th

The Field was in the best condition of the year, thanks to all that helped with field maintenance on Wednesday to get the field ready. The evening was warm and there was gusty cross wind at times. This resulted in a few "incidents" but everyone had a good time.

Sunday - July 7th

It was a gorgeous day for flying model aircraft and club members Larry Greco, Rino Zorzi, Clarence Boyer, Bill Fleet, Peter-John Thompson, Peter Smith...  and Instructors Pat Leonard, Steve Daly, Craig Knight, George Federley and I were there to take advantage of it!

Everyone had multiple flights but the day wasn’t without its mishaps. Peter-John's Cub ended up in a tree and had to be gently coaxed down by George....   luckily neither George nor the Cub where damaged! Steve Daly's Fokker bent its landing gear on its final flight of the day. Not sure what happened, but Steve had it back together before we left the field. All in all, everyone enjoyed an excellent day of “sun and fun”!

Catch ya’ on the “flip flop”.
